Marta Lach wins after grueling uphill sprint

After two consecutive victories for Lotte Kopecky, SD Worx-Protime continues its dominance at Danilith Nokere Koerse. This time, it was Poland’s Marta Lach who claimed the win after a punishing sprint on the revamped and selective finish in the Waregemsestraat.

The race remained controlled for a long time until 19-year-old Stina Kagevi (Coop-Repsol) launched a solo move 60 kilometers from the line. Her effort was neutralized 25 kilometers from the finish by Finnish champion Anniina Ahtosalo (Uno-X Mobility).

The final lap served up plenty of action, with a late attack from Anna Henderson (Lidl-Trek), an impressive chase from Zoe Backstedt (Canyon//SRAM Racing), and crashes involving, among others, Lara Gillespie (UAE Team ADQ).

Fenix-Deceuninck tried to set up the sprint for Belgian Julie De Wilde, but she lacked the legs to contest it. Instead, it was Marta Lach who launched early and held on for victory, ahead of Linda Zanetti (Uno-X Mobility) and the fast-finishing but poorly positioned Gillespie.

SD Worx-Protime remains unbeaten at Nokere Koerse since 2022.

ā€œAll I heard in my earpiece was: ā€˜go, go, go,ā€™ā€ Lach smiled at the finish. ā€œI watched the last editions won by Lotte and Lorena, and it became my dream to win here too. I’m so happy I made it happen.ā€
