The late FRANS DE MULDER was born in the egg municipality of Kruishoutem. He started his professional career in 1959, which ended in 1963. In 1958, he became Champion of Belgium among the independents in Tongeren. In 1960, he was Champion of Belgium among the professionals in Baulet. In the same year, he won the Vuelta a España and triumphed in the GP of Heusden. In 1961, he won the Championship of Flanders in Koolskamp and Antwerp – Ghent. In addition to numerous local races, he also won Nokere Koerse in 1962. Unfortunately, Frans passed away on 2001-03-05 as a result of a ruptured aortic aneurysm.
