Arthur De Cabooter (born October 3, 1936 in Welden near Oudenaarde) was a Flemish cyclist. He competed from 1953 (novice) to 1967, including over eight years as a professional. He was nicknamed “El Torro” (the bull).

He lived successively in Zingem, Nazareth, and Asper. He is married to Nicole Standaert, a sister of Micheline, who is married to Walter Godefroot. Decabooter mostly rode for Groene Leeuw, but also for Libéria-Grammont (1962) and Solo (1963 and 1964). He won the Tour of Flanders three times, as an amateur (1955), an independent (1957), and a professional (1960 for Jean Graczyck and Rik Van Looy). He also won many semi-classics such as Dwars door België, the Omloop Het Volk, Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, the E3 Prize, and the East Flanders Championship.

He won one stage in the Tour of Belgium and three stages in the Vuelta a España; in that race he also won the points classification in 1960.

Arthur Decabooter was the epitome of a true “flandrien,” a powerhouse on the bike. He was incredibly popular: in 1960 and 1961, he demonstrated his skills before competing in the Road World Championships, when he was not selected due to a rivalry with “patron” Van Looy. In 1967, he bid farewell to the crowd in a packed Ghent stadium, Kuipke.
