This year’s annual networking evening of Danilith Nokere Koerse brought together more than 220 partners and guests at Smappee in Harelbeke. With representatives from 136 different companies, it was an inspiring evening where cycling, technology, marketing, and entrepreneurship took center stage. The setting at Smappee perfectly underscored what Danilith Nokere Koerse stands for: progress, innovation, and collaboration.
Smappee as host: innovation with the same sporting mindset
Host Stephan Grosjean, CEO of Smappee, welcomed those present with a short but powerful speech. He drew a connection between Smappee’s technological vision and the approach within the sports sector.
“In both technology and sport, everything revolves around efficiency and making the right decisions at the right time. Just as in elite sports, innovation in energy management can make the difference between following and leading.”
That shared mindset makes the collaboration with Danilith Nokere Koerse particularly logical: both organizations strive for sustainable growth, smart solutions, and a strong vision for the future.
Digital transition: ready for the future
In addition to networking and inspiration, the digital transformation of Danilith Nokere Koerse was also central. In the past year, an important step was taken towards further professionalization:
- A new CRM system, developed in collaboration with Agoya
- A completely redesigned website and webshop, realized with MySueño
These digital tools ensure better partner service, more efficient communication, and a stronger online experience for fans, companies, and stakeholders. During the networking evening, those present received an exclusive preview of these innovations.
Strong panel discussion on racing, marketing, and entrepreneurship
One of the highlights of the evening was the panel discussion, moderated by Karl Vannieuwkerke. The panelists were:
- Jip van den Bos (Eurosport)
- Sven Vanthourenhout (Red Bull–BORA–Hansgrohe)
- Xavier Dewulf (G&V Energy Group)
- Karel Van Eetvelt (Captains of Cycling – Lotto Team)
The panel shared sharp insights about cycling today, the role of (sports) marketing, and the importance of entrepreneurship within and outside the peloton.
Karl Vannieuwkerke: Danilith Nokere Koerse, a race with identity
“I think there is a large segment of riders who have a small chance of winning in the biggest races, but do have a chance in Danilith Nokere Koerse. This is a huge asset in that spot on the calendar. Moreover, the new finish is a lot safer, which will only make the field of participants more interesting.”
Jip van den Bos: Equal opportunities and a strong future for women's cycling
“By organizing the same race for women, you immediately have a large reach and a strong name. The fact that the prize money is the same for men and women is extremely important and a powerful signal for women’s sports.”
Sven Vanthourenhout: Talents get their start here
“The combination of juniors, professionals, and women is crucial for the development of young riders. That benefits cycling as a whole.”
The networking evening at Smappee proved once again that Danilith Nokere Koerse is more than just a cycling race. With a strong community of partners, a clear vision, and continued investments in digitization, the organization looks to the future with confidence!
